Basic Cyanotype Kit
Cyanotype printing, which involves developing prints by exposing the chemically coated paper to the sun, is one of the most accessible alternative photographic processes. The CPB Foundation is excited to make available its Basic Cyanotype Kit, in a convenient ready-to-use powder form. All you have to do is mix some distilled water and you are ready to go. Once in liquid form, the kits can last for up to a year if stored in a cool dark place. The kit provides enough chemistry to coat 50-80 sheets of A4 paper.
The Basic CPB Cyanotype kit contains
Part A: Potassium Ferricyanide (10gm)
Part B: Ferric Ammonium Citrate (25gm)
3 x Pipettes
1 x 25ml plastic beaker for mixing
One foam Brush
Additional items required for you to make cyanotype prints at home:
1. Wooden/MDF Board with a matching-sized glass or acrylic sheet // one can also use a readymade photo frame.
2. Hydrogen Peroxide (optional) - available at most medicine shops
3. Watercolour paper - 200 gsm and above is better
4. Rubber Gloves
Instructions:
If the kit has been shipped to you, the chemistry is in powdered form. Please purchase distilled water from your nearest petrol/gas station and fill the two bottles to the top line and shake well for the powder to dissolve completely. To use the chemistry, please mix Part A and Part B in equal quantities in the beaker provided. Use the pipette to draw the right amount of chemistry from each bottle and mix the two together. When mixed together, the chemical becomes light-sensitive and will remain usable for a few hours, please work indoors in subdued light.
